City Bark pet boutique opens Friday in downtown Detroit

Even pets are getting in on Detroit’s resurgence.

City Bark pet boutique officially opens its doors in downtown Detroit’s Capitol Park at 11 a.m. Friday.

The store is moving from its original Grosse Pointe location to a 1,250-square-foot space in The Albert building, at 1222 Griswold St.

Jamie Judson, 27, owner of City Bark and proud owner of a German Shepherd, St. Bernard and 25-year-old Moluccan cockatoo, started the business 2½ years ago.

“The opportunity was bigger in Detroit,” Judson said of the move. “Capitol Park is growing by the day. There’s tons of foot traffic and a good mix of people that work downtown and that live downtown who have access to the store.”
